Why Post RD Outreach?

The RD Link makes it easy for brands and dietitians to build meaningful relationships.By posting opportunities for RDs, you clarify how you want to work with them and what they can do for you at any given time. Plus, offering specific value attracts RDs to engage with your brand.

What is RD Outreach & How Does It Work?

Getting Started

  1. Click Outreach Posts and Create New.
  2. Select the type of outreach: Ambassador Program, Product Exploration, Collaboration, or Other.
  3. Each option includes automated templates with essential questions and prompts, ensuring you collect the necessary details.

Outreach Post Types

Ambassador Program

Use this option to promote your dietitian ambassador or affiliate program. If you already manage ambassadors externally, you can link to your existing platform. This form also allows you to collect mailing addresses for sending samples.

Product Exploration

Share free samples with dietitians so they can experience your product firsthand. The form includes prompts to confirm shipping details, such as whether you ship to Canada or PO boxes.

Collaboration

Find specific partners like content creators, writers, or influencers. Example posts:

  • Seeking 10 micro-influencers to post about our new product. Each RD will create one in-feed post and three stories for $100.
  • Looking for a gut health expert to contribute to our blog or create video content.
  • X brand is seeking recipe developers to create kid-friendly recipes.

Other

Create a custom application for RDs to complete. Use this option for surveys, polls, or unique outreach needs with a fully customizable RD application form.

What to Post

Post an outreach opportunity anytime you have a need for nutrition partners. Some examples include:

  • Announcements for webinars and ambassador programs
  • Calls for media opportunities
  • Sample campaigns to let RDs try your product
  • Collaboration requests for content creation, media work, and expert input

Considerations

  • Identify your goals and consider aligning dietitians with your broader marketing strategy.
  • Determine key times of year for RD engagement (e.g., awareness months, holidays, seasonal ingredients).
  • New product launches and retail availability.
  • Ambassador and Affiliate programming
  • Key Market focus
  • Utilize RDs for expert opinions on specific ingredients, dietary trends, or key populations.
  • Broader PR and marketing team needs – mailers, spokespeople, content creators, podcasts, or media opportunities.

Sample Outreach Ideas

  • Product Seeding – Share samples with RDs in your niche or target market.
  • Media & Influencer Partnerships – Seek out media professionals or social influencers.
  • Retail & Event Engagement – Connect with RDs in target locations.
  • Content & Education – Find experts to contribute blog posts, videos, or presentations.

Tips:

  • To limit the number of samples you send, set a cap for applicants in your campaign.
  • Schedule campaigns out
  • Invite RDs! We now make recommendations for each post – sending an invite personalizes the invitation so the RDs know ifthey may be a good fit.
  • Brands hwo have ongoing RD outreach opportunities (like ambassador programs or samples) have the best success when they repost these monthly. Simply copy, edit, and repost. This will renotify the full RD network about yoru opportunity and get you more sign ups.

Best Practices

1. Post Often

  • Repost ambassador programs and sample campaigns monthly or quarterly.
  • Keeping opportunities live increases visibility and engagement. Not only will RDs see you elsewhere on the platform, but each time you post you notify more RDs about how they can connect with you.

2. Highlight Value for RDs

  • Frame your outreach around how you are supporting them.
  • Remember, RDs are nutrition experts, not sales agents.
  • Authenticity, transparency, and mutual value drive engagement.

3. Provide Clear Deliverables

  • Outline content expectations (e.g., blog posts, videos, social media posts).
  • Specify timelines and compensation
  • Provide brand guidelines (voice, hashtags, disclaimers).

4. Target the Right RDs

  • Define key criteria (followers, specialty, location).
  • Set a budget to attract RDs comfortable with your rates.
  • Use RD Link’s recommendation feature to invite the best-fit RDs.

5. Build Meaningful Relationships, Not Transactions

  • Long-term partnerships outperform one-off requests.
  • Engage with RDs beyond the outreach post (e.g., interact on social media, share their content, send thank-you messages).

There is a place for all types of influencers, content creators, health coaches, etc. Your campaign on RD LInk should be one that is particlarly crafted for RDs. Deititains are….

Dietitians want to feel a connection with a brand. They want to know that you value and support them. Dietitian Otreach and ambassador programs are a longr term game because building a community takes time. RDs do not want to be sold products or expected to post or sell.

Practices to Avoid

  • Direct Sales – The RD Link is not a direct sales platform. RDs are nutrition experts, not sales reps. The most successful brands focus on the relationship and value to the RDs and trust if they like it, have a relationship with you, they will recommend the product and most likely buy it too!
  • Product-for-post exchanges – RDs are eager to try new products and get to know various brands. If they like the products many will post and recommend to their patients. Let this evolve organically by having a relationship and providing value over demanding forced social posts. Include a simple request ‘if you like the product, tag us on social!’
  • Unclear expectations – If RDs don’t know what’s expected, engagement will suffer.
